Our origin
WST grew from a simple realization: when the world shakes, people still want to stand up for each other. The early work began after the events of 9/11 under the name American Standing Together. Over time, the mission widened, because the need is global and the solution is shared.
What we believe
- Human dignity is non-negotiable. People are not “units” or “data points.”
- Local wisdom matters. The best solutions begin where people actually live.
- Privacy is protection. We collect only what’s needed at each step.
- Standards keep everyone safe. Review reduces harm and improves fit.
- Stewardship beats spectacle. We prefer steady outcomes over loud headlines.
How we operate
The public site stays light and informational. When someone reaches out, we use a minimal intake and then review internally before any deeper engagement.
WST operates with private governance through a Private Membership Association (PMA). Participation is voluntary and role-defined. Access is granted by review and approval, not automatic enrollment.
- Public exploration is open: learn about WST without joining.
- Membership is voluntary: access is granted by approval, not automatic enrollment.
- Consent is required for roles: governing documents apply as participation deepens.
- Scope is role-bound: permissions and responsibilities match the role you hold.
- Accountability is auditable: key decisions and actions are recorded.
- Mission protection is primary: access may be limited, declined, or revoked.
